like a field
a seasonal journal of art & poetry
like a field publishes seasonally four times a year (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter). Submissions are open for Winter 2024.
Submissions should be sent to likeafieldmag@gmail.com with a subject line stating submission type and number of pieces (ex. Poetry - 3 Poems; Arts - 4 Paintings). Please read our Manifesto for a sense of the kind of art and writing we seek.
In the body of your email, please include:
- Name as you'd like it featured
- Website or other platform where your work is showcased
- A short third-person biography
like a field will always have free submissions.
like a field cannot currently pay per acceptance/publication.
like a field's response time is around 2 months. Please do not inquire about your submission before this time unless there has been a mistake.
like a field retains the right to first publication, upon which all rights return to the author/artist. Simultaneous submissions are okay as long as you notify us when a piece has been accepted elsewhere.
Poetry
Please send 1-5 poems in a .doc, .docx, or .pdf file. All poems should start on a new page. Do not include your name within your document (unless part of the poem). We accept previously unpublished material only.
Please send a query to likeafieldmag@gmail.com if interested in submitting works of fiction, nonfiction, criticism, or other mediums.
Arts
Please send 1-5 pieces/works attached to your email or linking to the proper location (if they can't be attached) and ensure that they are both downloadable and high-resolution.
Please be sure to include title, date, and materials. Detail shots are permitted. We accept artwork that has appeared in galleries or on the artist's personal social media, but not art that has previously been published in another magazine, zine, book, or other kind of online or print publication.

If your work doesn't fit squarely into the above categories please don't hesitate to send it. We will consider anything that can be rendered on the web - text/visual hybrid works, video, audio, and so on.
