Thye Deforest (b. 2001) currently resides in Evanston, Illinois, and received his Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art and Art History from the College of Charleston in 2023. DeForest’s practice is based in collage and oil painting and often joins the two in works referencing digital collages of images collected from social media. In his paintings, DeForest emphasizes the inherent flatness of viewing images online and explores the self through an algorithmic reflection of desire.
