Nick D’Alessandro (b. 2000) is a Chicago-based artist engaging in an expanded practice that deliberates on the lifetime of material. Exploring themes of fetish, fossil, and impurity, Nick’s work investigates garments and portable technologies as commodified entities that offer opportunities for connection and expression. He asks how we consider technology, what role fossilized objects play in creating a linear narrative, and what petrifying these habitual encounters can reveal about both the object and user. He received his BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2023 and has exhibited his work in galleries across Chicago, New York, and Denver.
