Corrine Slade (b. 1998, Montclair, New Jersey) makes paintings that depict women in imagined settings to create a sense of warmth. The figure acts as a stand-in for the viewer, immersing the audience in dream-like spaces that Slade herself finds comforting. The places she constructs are environments for solace that do not exist in this reality. She is currently residing in Chicago. She received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in May 2020. Recent solo exhibitions include The Breeder, Athens, Greece; New Image Art Gallery, Los Angeles; and Jargon Projects, Chicago, IL. Selected group exhibitions include DADA Gallery, London; International Print Center New York, NY; Sulk Gallery, Chicago, IL; New Image Art Gallery, Los Angeles, CA.
