Public Installation at Makerspace NYC Sculpture Park, Staten Island, NY
Skyline Disruptions 1 & 2’ asks the viewer to consider aerospace and the act of looking as extensions of the built environment. The sculpture emulates and deviates from its surrounding visual field to complicate the dynamics of image, object, and the looking-subject. The viewer walks underneath two scaled-down bed-frames and looks upward. As the sculpture is situated underneath an active flight path, in view of the Verrazano bridge, and hundreds of feet away from the Staten Island railway, the structure maps onto infrastructure and green space simultaneously while also questioning such boundaries and delinations.
