Sky, Sawn
Sky is let today
it’s all bloody
and wet
light’s runoff text
red streaked on
the horizon like meaning’s
excess. and burned for over
illumination. fires
flickered for no witness.
flares we sent
returned
our questions.
sentences fell back
in our throats. smoke
signals blown back to choke
us. the sky secretes
from fresh incisions
scars over our brightest
sacrifices. what we sought
in distances beyond
eyesight swelled
from inside
red sky brought
so close we grow
slick with it
